My Local awards

 Nomination continuation.

A recent blog described how I had been nominated for East Midlands furniture maker of the year. As I said at the time I was not going to do anything, but my son and daughter said there was no harm in continuing with the voting process. Somewhat reluctantly I ran with the process, asked friends and family to vote for me and waited for results.

It seems strange as furniture making is just part of what I do. Craft fairs were the start with the usual boards and small pieces. Various friends and family have asked me to make cabinets and gates and more recently I seem to be spending much of my time restoring tables.

The award.

Having done my bit and pestered everyone I know to vote, I was amazed to get an email from the organisers saying I had one the category and as such I was now East midlands furniture maker of the year.

Still not sure how significant this is but very gratifying that all the work Sheila and I have put in to Mr H Woodwork has gained recognition even though it came from an unexpected source.

I will still be doing some craft fairs and hope that the website will continue to bring in a range of jobs which help to keep me occupied in retirement.

Thanks to all who have supported me through this process. It is much appreciated.
