First attempt
I have been busy over the summer and had not realised how I had neglected the blogs on the website.
Product development over the last few months, working on the website, along with projects around home have kept me busy.
The last post was in relation to impending event in May at Peak Village. A very successful weekend in terms of meeting new customers and ideas for new products or development of existing ones.
Just before the weekend I was working on some barrel stave lights. These were mains wired and if sold would have fallen foul of electrical safety regulations.
During the open arts event I chatted to a gent (Pat), who was an electrician who suggested I looked for a low voltage light bulb. I sold the structure of a floor standing lamp to him and he was very interested in any future developments. I had also made a table lamp which I decided to keep at home.
Low voltage.
Having spoken to Pat at Open Arts, the search commenced for a low voltage bulb. Amazon had many options, but none were suitable to be exposed as a bare bulb. More searching and I came across a company who made a USB rechargeable filament type bulb.
The bulbs looked great, but the screw base was a none standard size, so they could not be fitted in a standard 27mm es bulb holder.
More work and I managed to cut a 44mm diameter hole. line it with some soft foam and screw the bulb in to the improvised holder. This was the table lamp sorted. I now have to work on the floor lamp.
The major advantage of the USB bulb is that there are no wires and the lamp can be placed where it is needed rather than next to a mains socket.
