2025

 The year

A busy year, largely due to several tools deciding they had worked too hard and as a result I have spent a lot of time learning how to repair things.

This has met with mixed success, fortunately potentially the most expensive (£2.5k) machine failure was fixed after much research with a £20 start run capacitor. Unfortunately this was not the case with my big belt/disc sander, which I am going to have to replace.

Derbyshire open arts in Rowsley over the bank holiday in May was brilliant. Made a load of new friends and had advice from a customer about the range of lamps I now make. The original intention was to have these as mains voltage, but the regulations seemed quite onerous. We managed to source some lovely looking led rechargeable bulbs and now have table and floor lamps in the range.

I have had quite a few commissions and have been developing more products. Sheila and I have also become associated with Wick and a Prayer in Tissington, who took some of my barrel stave wax melters and offered us space at a pre Christmas event which was a great success. We are also involved with Makers Street and have done a couple of their markets in Ashbourne. Again a lovely group to be involved with and thanks to Michelle particularly for making us so welcome.

Sheila spent ages sorting images for the website. As the range has expanded considerably we decided to update the website. Several months later, with only a few hitches the new look website is now out there for all to see.

2026

I am not quite sure what this next year has in store. Derbyshire open arts is not running this year, but I have applied for a space with the Derbyshire Makers, who are running an event in Rowsley at the end of May.

Annie from Wick and a Prayer has offered us space outside her craft shop for the well dressing in Tissington and we hope to do some more events with Michelle from Makers Street.

New products are being developed. I am currently working on a range of furniture using barrel staves and the commissions keep coming. I have done a couple of little jobs between Christmas and New Year, a couple of very specific wooden spoons for a lady in Harrogate, and a hanging wooden orb for a gent in Cambridge.

This all sounds exciting but I will be out of action for a couple of months due to spinal surgery which is scheduled for early February

Thank you all for your support in 2025 and look forward to working with old friends and making new contacts through 2026.
